What I Wear in a Day

Fashion is a big part of my life. I believe every outfit I wear expresses who I am, whether it's the outfit I wear to class or the outfit I go to sleep in. I began to get into fashion in my early years of high school, when I first began to learn who I was as a person. During the past six years or so, my style has changed quite a bit however what I have been wearing in my college years reflects most comfortably with who I am as a person. Below are 5 outfits I wore within 24 hours surrounding the different activities I take part in from class to dance rehearsal to sleeping.

This is a casual outfit I wore to my Tuesday classes and work. I think this outfit represents my style while also keeping me warm during the Syracuse winter.

This is a comfortable athleisure outfit that I wore to dance rehearsal. On Tuesday nights I have tap, so this outfit is perfect to move in while also maintaining my style.

To bed I wear old shorts and an old t-shirt. I think it takes a special type of person to wear a matching pajama set to bed every night.

Wednesdays are my easiest day, only having two classes. This is my outfit to reflect this laid back day.

On Wednesday afternoon I attended a networking event for a company I hope to intern for. This is the business casual outfit I wore to the venue.

Selfies with a Social Conscience

When people think of the word "selfie" their mind usually goes to individuals posting pictures they took of themselves on Instagram. This is too what I believed however, after looking at the "What I Eat" project, my mind was broadened to what a selfie can actually be and represent. I really liked what our teacher said in class, that being that a selfie isn't determined by who clicked the camera button. Selfies can express many ideas and emotions of a person, whether it's for social (social media), professional (LinkedIn) or informative (What I Eat project) purposes. The idea of selfies with a social conscience reminded me of the "Humans of New York" series. Similar to the "What I Eat" project discussed in class, this project follows the lives of individuals in NYC giving the reading a selfie of them, along with a snippet of their life story. I think this is a great project because every person has their own unique story and image, which is something you wouldn't know without seeing them and hearing them. This series would have a completely different feel if it was solely text and wasn't accompanied by a selfie of each person interviewed. Many times while reading this series, I think the selfie of the person is more powerful than the words they actually spoke. Finally, I believe that selfies are a strong tool that should be used more in writing. With today's technology, writing pieces can be further amplified with digital content, such as selfies.

  1. I agree that fashion can express who you are and so it was creative to document your day and night outfits. Also, I thought you made an interesting connection to selfies and Humans of New York. -Eva Suppa
